Why is my Adjustable Temperature Kettle taking longer to boil water?
April 23 2023 2:41pmScale is a naturally occurring build-up of mineral deposits caused by impurities in water or use of hard water. As you heat water, the minerals precipitate out and collect as white powder inside the kettle. The ideal descaling cycle depends on water hardness.
We recommend descaling the Kettle every 60 uses. Regular descaling can also increase the service life of the Kettle, allowing it to boil water faster with less energy.
1. Fill the kettle with the appropriate ratio of descaling solution and water. We recommend OXO descaling solution and using 7 ounces of solution and 53 ounces of water. This will fill the kettle to the max line, 60oz. (7 ounces is roughly half of a bottle of our 14 oz descaling solution)
2. Bring the solution to a boil.
3. Ensure the kettle is off, unplug from the outlet and let the mixture sit for 15 - 30 minutes.
4. Rinse 2-3 times with fresh water.
Note: Your Kettle will not work properly if it is not descaled regularly.
