The Clean button light will turn on after every 90 cycles as a helpful reminder to descale. To clean your coffee maker, fill the reservoir up to the Max fill line with the appropriate mixture of descale solution and water. Follow the suggestion on the descaling solution bottle. We recommend using OXO Brew Descaling Solution.

The clean cycle will take approximately 25 minutes. Time will vary based on the amount of mineral deposit. Make sure to allow the cleaning cycle to complete to ensure that your machine is fully descaled. If it has been more than 90 cycles since your last descale, you may want to leave the descale solution and water for a few hours before running the clean cycle. This will give it more time to break down the scale.

Scale is a naturally occurring buildup of mineral deposits. How often you should descale your coffee maker depends on water hardness. Your coffee maker will not work properly if it is not descaled regularly.
